On My Nightstand: 2013 Edition

I'm not great with resolutions. Case in point: I totally ate a few Christmas cookies two days into my cleanse. Instead of making resolutions with finite goals (run X miles, only watch X hours of TV), I decide to give myself a general resolution: read more. It can't be hard, since I read so little last year, unless magazines count. Here's what's currently on my nightstand:
  1. Blog, Inc: I'm trying to be more purposeful about my newest endeavor, since I let the last one wither and die.
  2. I Don't Care About Your Band: So far, it's a lot of blowies and sex hotlines, so I'm enjoying the easy read.
  3. A Bad Idea I'm About to Do: "There's truly no poorer judgment than not buying this book. Except maybe diving into a swimming pool full of malaria." —Patton Oswalt
  4. Glamorama: "A satirical mass-murder opus." You had me at mass murder!
  5. My Ideal Bookshelf: Famous people reveal the books that mean the most to them. I've been dying for more intelligent coffee table books.
  6. But Enough About Me: A book from frequent Rolling Stones contributor Jancee Dunn. This was recommended somewhere on the interwebs.
  7. The Sisters Brothers: Whiskey, murder, and Westerns.
  8. Domestic Violets: "A dastardly fun satire of contemporary domestic life," which I'm sure will not remind me of Walnut Creek AT ALL.
  9. How I Became a Famous Novelist: Because I like reading about people in similar fields, no matter how fictional.
  10. The Complete Sherlock Holmes: Let me tell you, this is not an easy book to hold upright while you're in bed. Bonus: it makes a great kitty guard when he attempts to climb on my face.
  11. The Beauty Detox Solution [not pictured]: It's not currently on my nightstand, since I've been actively reading it out on the couch, planning meals, and cooking with it. Most of the meals so far have left me hungry and cranky and paranoid I have candida living in my insides, but I like the focus on vegan and raw eating.
